Carrizozo, NM

Carrizozo is a quiet high-desert town of under a thousand residents, sitting right where Highways 54 and 380 meet in south-central New Mexico. Originally established as a railroad hub at the turn of the twentieth century, it serves as the Lincoln County seat and still holds onto its easygoing frontier charm. Wide residential streets, historic adobe and brick buildings, and clear views of the surrounding mountains give the town an uncrowded, peaceful feel.
