Carrollton, KY

Carrollton is the Carroll County seat at the meeting of the Ohio and Kentucky rivers, with Prestonville across the Kentucky River. The 2020 census counted 3,890 residents. The town began as Port William in 1792, served as the seat of old Gallatin County, and became the center of Carroll County when that county was formed in 1843. General Butler State Resort Park fills out the river-town map, with the Butler-Turpin House and views of the confluence. Carrollton's local map is all about water and crossings.

Point Park sits at the river meeting, the state park climbs the hillside, and the city keeps one foot in the old county-seat story and the other in modern industry.
