Cashion Community, TX

Cashion Community is a Wichita County city eight miles north of Wichita Falls, just off State Highway 240. It was incorporated in 2000, but the community's story reaches back to 1897, when Hi Willis bought land in the area. A one-room schoolhouse on donated land became the center of the settlement and was named for T.J. Cashion, a county commissioner. Oil discoveries in 1918 brought new residents, and the school later expanded before joining the Burkburnett system.

Today Cashion Community is a small city with a mayor and council, a rural road map, and students connected to Burkburnett Independent School District. Its city limits cover a compact 1.9 square miles. The city sits in northeastern Wichita County, with Wichita Falls as the nearby regional center and State Highway 240 as its main reference. Cashion's character comes through in that school-centered history: a place named for a county official, shaped by oil, and still organized around the road and school line.
