Casselton is a city in Cass County, North Dakota, founded in 1876 by the Northern Pacific Railway. Named for railway president George Washington Cass and famous for its local abundance of American red squirrels alongside a historic giant oil can pile, the community of approximately 2,953 is served by the Central Cass School District locally.
