Cateechee, SC

Cateechee is a small, quiet community perched on the wooded hills above Twelvemile Creek in southwestern Pickens County. With a population of around 300, it offers plenty of privacy and scenic Upstate charm while keeping you within a quick drive of neighboring Norris, Central, and Clemson.

The area was founded in the late 1890s as a cotton mill village, and that heritage is still visible in the street grid and classic mill houses along Cateechee Main Street. Today, it has settled into a peaceful residential area surrounded by green hills and rushing water. Because Cateechee is unincorporated, Pickens County handles local schools, roads, and emergency services, while residents head to nearby Six Mile or Liberty for groceries, dining, and everyday errands.
