About Cavalier
Cavalier is Pembina County’s seat, established in 1875 and given the county role in 1911. Five miles west, Icelandic State Park sits on the north shore of Lake Renwick, with the Gunlogson Arboretum and county historical museum nearby. In town, the annual Cavalier Motorcycle Ride-In turns Father’s Day weekend into a very specific North Dakota tradition, drawing riders from the Upper Midwest and Canada. The Tongue River passes by, and the city’s name remembers early settler Charles Cavileer. Cavalier is a county-seat town with Icelandic prairie history, lake country, and a motorcycle weekend all close together.
