About Cedar Crest

Cedar Crest is a Bernalillo County census-designated place at the eastern base of the Sandia Mountains, where NM 14 climbs through the East Mountain communities. The local name most people recognize is Tinkertown Museum, just beyond Cedar Crest on Sandia Crest Road; Ross Ward’s handmade miniature world began welcoming visitors in 1983. Cedar Crest also hosts the Sandia Mountain Natural History Center, which has operated since 1967 and uses its trails as outdoor classrooms. It’s a mountain-edge place with a strong road-to-the-Crest identity.
