Cedar Rock, NC

Cedar Rock is a small Caldwell County village on the northern slopes of the Brushy Mountains, northeast of Lenoir and along Highway 18 toward Wilkesboro. The village was incorporated in 1997 around the Cedar Rock Country Club, so its map and daily rhythm have always been closely tied to a private recreation community. Golf, tennis, swimming, and hiking shape the area’s outdoor life, with the club’s course laid out by Ellis Maples in 1965. Mountains and wooded valleys provide the backdrop, but the village line is a deliberate piece of local government.

Residents live within reach of Lenoir, Hickory, Blowing Rock, and the larger Piedmont cities, while Cedar Rock itself handles a small set of municipal tasks, including garbage and recycling. The country club remains separate from village government even though it sits at the center of the community, and homes, roads, and wooded slopes fill the surrounding landscape. Cedar Rock is a mountain-edge village shaped by a 1990s incorporation, a long-standing golf course, and the daily movement between private recreation and the public services of Caldwell County.
