About Cedar Valley
Cedar Valley is a Logan County town built around the privately owned Cedar Valley Golf Club, about eight miles west of Guthrie and a mile south of the Cimarron River. Developer Duffy Martin built the course in 1973-74, and residences followed on the same rural property, so the town's physical form and main business share the same origin. Cedar Valley is part of the Oklahoma City metropolitan area, while Guthrie is eight miles east and provides the nearest larger-town connection.
The golf club has two par-70 courses, a driving range, putting green, PGA professional, and a restaurant serving breakfast and lunch. Golf is the primary business within the town limits, and the club's course-and-housing layout is the clearest local map. Cedar Valley is a place organized around a private recreational enterprise, with the Cimarron River to the south and Guthrie to the east. Its history follows the way one golf development became a town, with the course, homes, and nearby river defining the local map.
