Central Heights-Midland City, AZ

Central Heights–Midland City is a small, unincorporated census-designated place in Gila County's Cobre Valley, pressed against Globe and close to Claypool and Miami. The 2020 Census counted 2,319 residents. The name reflects a cluster of adjoining communities more than a single formal town center; the area sits on dry, hilly ground with the Pinal Mountains and the old Globe–Miami mining corridor shaping the backdrop. U.S. 60 runs just north through Globe, making the CDP part of a busy regional web even though its own streets are residential.

One of the area's most distinctive landmarks is Pinal Cemetery, whose grounds include Croatian and Serbian sections tied to immigrant mining communities. Gila County Health and Human Services offices are also in the area, and Golden Hill Road marks one of the few local commercial threads. Globe—not Central Heights–Midland City—is the county seat, and that distinction matters: residents live in a neighborhood-like community while relying on the nearby historic mining city for many civic and commercial services. It is a compact Cobre Valley place with a layered name and a very specific regional setting.
