Central, LA

Central is a city in East Baton Rouge Parish and part of the Baton Rouge metro area. For a long time it functioned as an unincorporated suburb before residents voted to incorporate in 2005. The city sits in east-central East Baton Rouge Parish between two rivers and now has nearly thirty thousand residents. Central is served by the Central Community School System, which is a major part of its local identity. It feels suburban and parish-rooted, with a relatively recent city government layered onto older communities.
