Central Valley, UT

Central Valley is a Sevier County town along the Sevier River, first settled in 1874. William Morrison laid out the townsite in 1875 and called it Inverury, after his Scottish hometown; the name changed to Central in 1940, then to Central Valley for postal reasons in 1988. The town incorporated under its present name in 2005. That gives Central Valley an unusual naming sequence: a Scottish beginning, a one-word middle chapter, and a longer name chosen to keep the mail moving.
