About Centre Hall

Centre Hall is a Centre County borough of 1,268 residents in the 2020 census, set in Penns Valley near the geographic center of the valley and within the State College metropolitan area. The borough office, Centre Hall branch library, Penns Valley Area School District, and local fire company give the village its everyday civic addresses. The surrounding valley remains a mix of farms, school roads, and small borough centers rather than one continuous urban area. Centre Hall's defining event is the Centre County Grange Encampment and Fair, held each August at Grange Park.

The fair has more than 150 years of history, brings families into about 1,000 tents and 1,500 RVs, and is described as the only remaining tenting fair in the nation. For that week, the valley's agricultural traditions, family routines, vendors, concerts, and visitors all gather around the fairgrounds. Centre Hall is a small Penns Valley borough with a school-and-library center and an annual event that temporarily makes it a regional meeting place.
