Chadwick, IL

Chadwick is a quiet village of around 600 people set in the open farmland of Carroll County in northwestern Illinois. Fourth through eighth graders attend classes right in town at the Chadwick school, while younger children and high school students make the short trip over to Milledgeville.

The town got its start in the 1880s as a stop along the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad, and local lore still remembers its very first telegraph office, which was humorously rigged up on an old manure spreader before a permanent depot went in. Today, you can still see that railroad heritage in the town's simple grid layout and the old storefronts along Main Street.
