About Channelview

Channelview is a large census-designated community on the east side of Houston in Harris County. Its name comes from its location on the northeastern curve of the Houston Ship Channel, and that industrial geography still shapes the area. Channelview is also tied to Lorenzo de Zavala, a founding figure of the Republic of Texas, and has local parks such as Old River Terrace Park. The community is residential and working-class in feel, closely connected to ship-channel jobs, highways, and east Houston industry.
