About Chantilly

Chantilly’s history includes 18th-century plantations such as Sully, built by Richard Bland Lee I, and 19th-century village growth after the Little River Turnpike opened toward Winchester. The western Fairfax County community now centers on the junction of U.S. Route 50 and Virginia Route 28. Washington Dulles International Airport borders it to the north, Centreville lies south, and Fairfax is about seven miles southeast. The 2020 census recorded 24,301 residents. Chantilly forms part of Northern Virginia’s Washington metropolitan area.
