Chapman, PA

Chapman is one of the smallest boroughs in Pennsylvania’s Lehigh Valley, home to just over two hundred residents. Completely surrounded by Moore Township along the west branch of Monocacy Creek, it started in the mid-1800s as a slate company village founded by Cornish quarryman William Chapman. The neighborhood grew around those original diggings, leaving behind a cozy pocket of homes with a distinctive 19th-century footprint.

You can still spot pieces of that quarry heritage around the borough, from dark slate roofs on older houses to the historic Chapman Quarries United Methodist Church. The compact Borough Hall still holds monthly council meetings right beside three preserved jail cells, while the old quarry site and brick factory stack sit just down the street. It makes for a quiet, low-traffic place to settle down, with the shopping, dining, and job centers of Nazareth and Bethlehem only a short drive away.
