For a city of under 50,000 residents, Charleston offers an impressive cultural calendar. The Clay Center brings together visual arts, science exhibits, and a major performance hall that hosts touring Broadway shows and the West Virginia Symphony. Throughout the summer, Friday nights bring crowds down to Haddad Riverfront Park for free Live on the Levee concerts, while the citywide FestivALL fills streets with art, music, and food. Outdoor recreation is right out the back door as well, from walking paths at Magic Island to miles of hiking and mountain biking trails at nearby Kanawha State Forest.
