Chaska, MN

Chaska's six-sheet municipal Curling Center hosts leagues, learn-to-curl programs, private events, and USA Curling competitions. It is part of a recreation system that also includes 10 community parks, 23 neighborhood parks, and more than 100 miles of trails. The Chaska Community Center adds lap and leisure pools, a gymnasium, fitness facilities, and two ice sheets. The Loop is a nine-hole municipal golf course designed for experienced players, beginners, and golfers with physical or sensory impairments. Firemen's Park and the adjacent Event Center form another gathering area near downtown, while Lions Park hosted the 50th Chaska River City Days in July 2026 with music, vendors, children's activities, and a parade. Downtown occupies low ground beside the Minnesota River, where local clay once made brickmaking the city's defining industry.

The townsite was platted in 1857, the same year brick production began; by the 1880s, Chaska bricks moved by river and rail to regional markets. Chaska became the Carver County seat in 1856, incorporated as a city in 1891, and expanded sharply after the Jonathan New Town development began in 1966. Regional travel starts at East Creek Station at Highways 41 and 212. Under schedules effective in May 2026, SouthWest Transit routes 600, 695, 698, and 698U all stopped there on weekday trips toward downtown Minneapolis or the University of Minnesota. SW Prime supplemented those fixed routes with on-demand shared rides within Chaska and neighboring southwest-metro communities.
