About Cherryland

Cherryland's community center and agricultural-history campus place a recent civic investment beside one of the area's surviving farm estates. The 17,500-square-foot Cherryland Community Center opened in 2021 across Hampton Road from the Meek Estate, with three multipurpose rooms, a large gathering room, a prekindergarten room, and a reading-and-computer annex of the Alameda County Library. At the estate, the Alameda County Agricultural History Center opened in 2025 with a historic fruit orchard, demonstration garden, and carriage-house exhibits tracing land use from Ohlone stewardship through later farming and ranching. Together, the sites give this compact unincorporated community a combined place for classes, meetings, reading, and local history rather than separating those functions among several civic buildings. The 2026 park-district calendar used the community center for family trivia, preschool open houses, camp previews, and other activities; the history center scheduled public Saturdays and group programs.

Transit also ties Cherryland to a wider East Bay routine. AC Transit's schedule effective August 9, 2026, connects the community with downtown Hayward and BART stations at Hayward, Bay Fair, and Castro Valley on Line 93, while overnight Line 801 runs along Mission Boulevard to several BART stations. Within just under one and one-quarter square miles, the CDP had 15,808 residents in the 2020 census. In the 2020-through-2024 profile, 57 percent of residents age five or older spoke a language other than English at home and 36 percent were foreign-born. Owner occupancy was 39 percent, the median owner-occupied value was $668,800, monthly costs for owners with a mortgage were $2,718, and median gross rent was $2,140.
