Chestertown is the county seat of Kent County, Maryland, situated at the navigable head of the Chester River on the Eastern Shore. Historically home to the Nanticoke tribe before European colonization, the historic colonial town of approximately 5,594 is the location of Washington College. Public education for local students is served by Kent County Public Schools.
