Chevak is a city in the Kusilvak Census Area, Alaska, situated in the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta region about six miles from the Bering Sea coastline. Accessible primarily by air or water, this remote community of nearly one thousand residents is notable for its unique tri-language system utilizing English, Cup’ik, and a mixture of both. The city lies east of Hooper Bay and south of Scammon Bay, maintaining a traditional subsistence lifestyle rooted in Cup’ik culture and the natural resources of southwest Alaska.
