About Circle

Circle is a remote census-designated place in the Yukon-Koyukuk Census Area of Alaska, situated along the Yukon River at the end of the Steese Highway. Established in 1893 following a gold discovery at Birch Creek, the community has a population of 54. The town served as a major unloading port for supplies and hosts a checkpoint for the Yukon Quest sled dog race. Today, public education is provided by the Yukon Flats School District, and residents experience a harsh subarctic climate.
