Cisco, TX

Located along Interstate 20 about 45 miles east of Abilene, Cisco is an easygoing town of roughly 3,900 residents. It’s best known as the birthplace of the Hilton hotel chain, where Conrad Hilton purchased his very first property, the Mobley Hotel, back in 1919. That restored building now serves as a local museum and community center near the town’s red-brick downtown streets. Everyday life revolves around a tight-knit school district and a relaxed, rural atmosphere where neighbors actually know each other.

Having Cisco College right in town gives the community a nice boost of energy, bringing in college sports, vocational programs, and students from across the region. Just north of the city, Lake Cisco offers an easy spot for boating, fishing, and camping under big West Texas skies. Combined with the surrounding ranch country and a straightforward drive into the Metroplex, Cisco makes a quiet, practical home base for anyone looking to slow down without feeling isolated.
