About Clanton
Clanton is a city and the county seat of Chilton County, Alabama, forming part of the Birmingham combined statistical area. Historically known as "Goose Pond" in the late nineteenth century, the city lies in a region that produces over eighty percent of Alabama's peach crop. To celebrate this heritage, Clanton has hosted the annual Chilton County Peach Festival since 1952. The community is also home to Jefferson State Community College and is served by the Chilton County School District.
