About Clarkdale

Clarkdale is a Yavapai County town at the confluence of Bitter Creek and the Verde River, founded in 1912 as a company smelter town by William A. Clark. The original townsite is now the Clarkdale Historic District, which gives the community a more coherent historic shape than many small Arizona towns. The Verde Canyon Railroad is the signature attraction, following part of the old Verde Valley Railroad route through red-rock river country. Clarkdale feels historic, scenic, and quietly industrial.
