Clarksville, MI

Clarksville is an Ionia County village in Campbell Township, with 411 people at the 2020 census. It sits in southwestern Ionia County, two miles south of Interstate 96 at Nash Highway and Clarksville Road; Grand Rapids is 33 miles west and Lansing 38 miles east. The settlement was known as Skipperville in 1849, a name tied to the owners of a local cheese factory. Clark L. Howard opened the first post office and a store in 1875, and the village took his name before incorporating in 1925.

Village Hall on South Main Street also hosts the Campbell Township Historical Society, which displays local items and keeps the area's earlier layers in view. Volunteer fire protection comes through Campbell Township, while village services include central snow removal, leaf pickup, and street sweeping.
