Clarksville, VA

Located in Mecklenburg County near the North Carolina border, Clarksville is famously known as Virginia’s only lakeside town. With a population of around 1,300, it sits right along the shores of Kerr Reservoir, which everyone locally calls Buggs Island Lake. The town grew as a historic river and tobacco market in the nineteenth century, but today life here is all about the water. It offers an easygoing, quiet routine where keeping a boat at the marina and spending weekends fishing or cruising the lake is simply part of everyday life.

Virginia Avenue serves as the main street, featuring historic brick storefronts, local diners, shops, and views that open right onto the water.
