Claxton, GA

Claxton is Evans County's seat, a Georgia city of 2,602 residents in the 2020 census where U.S. 280 and U.S. 301 meet. County offices, schools, shops, and services gather around that crossroads, with Savannah to the east and Statesboro to the north along the same regional road network. The town's most recognizable landmark is Tos Drive-In Theatre, whose screen also housed WCLA, long billed as the World's Only Drive-In Radio Station. The town was established in 1890, and its railroad station helped the courthouse crossroads grow into the county's commercial center for surrounding roads and farms.
