Clay City, IN

Clay City is a quiet, close-knit community of around 900 people in southwestern Indiana, located about 40 minutes southeast of Terre Haute. Founded in the 1870s as a bustling railroad stop, the town grew around agriculture, sawmills, and clay pottery production. In its early days, the strong local schools, busy main street, and town baseball leagues earned it the fond nickname "the Athens of the Wabash Valley," and that pride in community tradition continues today.
