Clayton, NM

Clayton sits out on the open high plains of northeastern New Mexico, just a short drive from the Texas and Oklahoma borders. Home to around 2,600 people, it serves as the county seat and the main shopping and service hub for miles of surrounding ranch country. For anyone driving in from the east along Highway 87, it is the first real stop in the state, offering wide skies, historic stone buildings, and an unhurried, welcoming pace of life.
