Clayton is a suburban city in Montgomery County, Ohio, located northwest of Dayton. Platted in 1816 as Salem and later renamed for War of 1812 veteran John Clayton, the community of approximately 13,300 expanded significantly in 1998 by annexing the remainder of Randolph Township. Zoned within the Northmont City School District, the city offers family-oriented neighborhoods and suburban parks.
