Clear Lake CDP (Skagit County), WA

Clear Lake is a Skagit County CDP between Clear Lake and Mud Lake, about six miles east of Mount Vernon and near the town of the same name. The community sits in the lower East Fork Nookachamps watershed, where lake water, wooded slopes, wetlands, and rural roads shape the view. Its small footprint includes both shoreline and upland homes, giving the place a distinctly water-centered geography within the Mount Vernon-Anacortes regional orbit.

Clear Lake and nearby Beaver Lake are glacial lakes, and the county manages them through a lake district focused on aquatic plants, shoreline conditions, and long-term stewardship. The community's historical memory is carried by the Clear Lake Historical Association, formed in 1987, whose collections preserve early culture, industry, and local places. Clear Lake first appeared as a CDP in the 2000 census; today the lake, Clear Lake Elementary School, the historical hall, and access along State Route 9 shape everyday life. The lake district also gives residents a shared civic project.
