Clive, IA

Clive is a Des Moines-area city split between Polk and Dallas counties. It was platted in 1882 but did not incorporate as a city until 1956, and today it functions as a western suburb with easy access to offices, shopping, and regional trails. Greenbelt Park is one of its defining public spaces, following a wooded corridor through the community. Clive has the practical feel of a growing metro suburb, but the greenbelt gives it a more connected and outdoors-oriented spine than its commercial corridors alone suggest.
