Closter, NJ

Closter is a Bergen County borough in northern New Jersey, with roots reaching back before Dutch settlement. Lenape people farmed, hunted, and fished in the area before European arrival, and later land grants tied the community to the Hudson River corridor and travel toward Manhattan by ferry. Modern Closter is a residential suburban town near Harrington Park, Alpine, and other northern Bergen communities. It has the residential, established feel of the Pascack and Northern Valley suburbs, with New York City close enough to shape daily life.
