Cold Springs, NV

Tucked into a scenic desert valley just north of Reno, Cold Springs offers a quiet setting with mountain views in every direction. The area sits well apart from the busier Reno-Sparks metro, giving residents plenty of breathing room. U.S. 395 runs right through the center of the valley, connecting to master-planned neighborhoods like Woodland Village as well as larger rural properties zoned for horses and extra storage. While homes here carry Reno mailing addresses, Cold Springs has the distinct feel of an independent, relaxed community.

Most local activity centers around Cold Springs Park and the nearby middle school on White Lake Parkway. The park serves as a favorite community hub, complete with sports fields, courts, playgrounds, walking paths, a skate park, and a community center for neighborhood gatherings. The scenery is defined by White Lake, a natural dry lakebed that fills up after wet winter weather and highlights the valley's open desert landscape. It creates a friendly, laid-back environment where neighbors know each other and kids have space to play outside.

You will find a few small convenience businesses and services along the main parkways, but larger shopping centers, dining options, and medical facilities sit further south. Stead is a quick trip down the highway for groceries, while downtown Reno and major employment hubs are roughly a 15 to 20-minute drive via U.S. 395. Having a reliable vehicle is essential here, as regional bus lines do not extend out to the valley. Daily commuters rely on the highway, where ongoing widening projects in the North Valleys are helping streamline the trip into town.
