Coldfoot, AK

Set deep in the Alaskan interior along the Dalton Highway, Coldfoot is a tiny outpost of just a few dozen residents halfway between Fairbanks and the Arctic Ocean. Daily life revolves around the local service station, which caters to long-haul truckers and travelers heading north. The town earned its name during the gold rush era, when prospectors reportedly got cold feet and turned around before facing the harsh wilderness ahead.
