Coleman, WI

Coleman is a Marinette County village in the county's northwestern timber country; the 2020 census counted 726 people. The railroad arrived in stages: a track reached from Coleman to Pound in 1882, then continued toward Crivitz and Marinette in 1884. Those rails moved lumber, goods, and settlers, tying the village to the wider market and to the logging economy that shaped Marinette County from the 1880s into the early twentieth century.

That railroad legacy still gives Coleman its shape, even as the local institutions have changed. The Coleman School District operates elementary, middle, and high school programs from its campus on Business Highway 141, and the Coleman-Pound Area Library shares services across the two neighboring communities. The village's Main Street municipal building and nearby library are everyday civic stops, while the surrounding woods and farm country preserve the northwoods setting behind the rail story. Coleman is a small Wisconsin village whose history runs from timber trains to school buses, with Pound, Crivitz, and Marinette still sitting along the routes that made the place grow.
