About Colfax

Colfax is a historic city in Placer County, California, situated at the crossroads of Interstate 80 and State Route 174. Originally known as Alder Grove and Illinoistown during the Gold Rush, the community of approximately 2,407 features a restored 1905 Southern Pacific Railroad depot and is served by the Colfax Elementary School District for public education.
