About Columbine
Columbine is a 6.63-square-mile census-designated place in the Denver metropolitan area. Its population grew from 24,280 in 2010 to 25,229 in 2020. Jefferson County history traces the community’s initial development to dryland farms in 1907; a mid-1960s housing boom followed the opening of the Glenn L. Martin aerospace plant at Waterton Canyon and Johns Manville. The county also describes Columbine as lacking its own town hall, police and fire departments, or postal code. Columbine Library, built in 1989 beside Robert F. Clement Park, was renovated and reopened in 2017.
