Commerce, GA

Located in northeast Georgia along Interstate 85, Commerce offers a relaxed small-town pace with easy access to bigger hubs. Home to around 7,500 residents, the city sits less than a half hour north of Athens and about an hour from Atlanta, making it a convenient base for commuters. Day-to-day life centers around a historic brick downtown, local parks, neighborhood shops, and an independent public school district that draws many new families to the area.

Commerce got its start in the 19th century as a quiet railroad and textile hub called Harmony Grove before taking on its modern name in 1909. Today, that past is still visible in the restored storefronts and mill buildings near the train tracks. Outside the historic center, you'll find popular shopping centers near the highway alongside rolling Jackson County countryside and quick routes up into the North Georgia foothills.
