Concord, GA

Concord is a city in Pike County, Georgia, on State Route 18 in the rolling country south of Atlanta. The 2020 census counted 378 residents. Whiteoak Creek runs through the area, and the city’s streets still reflect its beginnings as a trading post and stagecoach stop between Atlanta and Columbus. Pike County farm roads meet the state route here, with the county’s larger services in nearby Zebulon and Griffin. The creek still matters.

Concord was established in 1827 and incorporated in 1832. Cotton farmers used the trading post as a regional outlet, and travelers used it as a stop along the stage line. The Civil War disrupted that early growth, sending many residents away, but the city remained on the map. Concord Public Schools are part of the Pike County School District, tying the community to a countywide education system. It is a small Georgia city with creek-side beginnings, a stagecoach past, and a main road that still gathers the surrounding countryside.
