Concord, MI

Concord is a Jackson County village settled in 1831, with a downtown that still has many of its original buildings. The post office arrived in 1836, the village incorporated in 1871, and the brick and frame storefronts now form the Concord Village Historic District. The village has a few wonderfully specific stories tucked into that old street grid: Buffalo Bill Cody brought his show here in 1906, and local tradition remembers the Taylor shop as an Underground Railroad stop. The Michigan History Center's Mann House in Concord adds a formal museum stop, with the house preserved as an example of late-19th-century village life. Concord is a small place where a short walk can cover a lot of Michigan history.
