About Congress

Congress is a census-designated place in Yavapai County, Arizona, with a mining past that shaped its identity. Gold was discovered at the Congress Mine in 1884, and by the 1890s a rail connection had brought the camp to life. After the ore ran out, Congress became a ghost town before eventually recovering as a retirement and bedroom community for nearby Wickenburg. Today the Congress Elementary School District operates a local K–8 school, with high school students attending Wickenburg High School.
