About Constantia

Constantia is an Oswego County census-designated place on the north shore of Oneida Lake, where Scriba Creek reaches the water and NY 49 follows the shoreline. The place grew inside George Scriba’s post-Revolution land patent, with settlers drawn by lake transport, forests, and the creeks that powered mills and other early industries. Constantia was incorporated as a village in 1836 and gave up that status in 1923. Trinity Church, listed on the National Register, remains a marker of that older village center. Constantia is a lake-and-creek community whose map still carries the outline of its early water routes.
