About Continental
Continental is a Putnam County village with a railroad-and-state-route story. The village was established in 1886, and Norfolk Southern still runs through town alongside State Routes 613 and 634. Its earlier name was Maurice City; the name changed to Continental before incorporation. The downtown calendar includes the Continental Fall Festival, held there since 1988, while the local library grew from a 1955 operation housed in Town Hall into a community library. It is the sort of northwest Ohio place where the rail line and the town center still share the same address.
