About Cordele
Cordele is a city and the county seat of Crisp County, Georgia, self-proclaimed as the Watermelon Capital of the World. Named in 1888 for the daughter of railroad president Samuel Hawkins and serving briefly as Georgia's temporary capital in 1864, the community of approximately 9,994 is served by the Crisp County School District for public primary and secondary education.
