Corinna, ME

Corinna is the primary village in the town of Corinna, Penobscot County, Maine, set on both sides of the East Branch Sebasticook River. Route 7 runs through the village as Dexter Road, with Routes 11 and 43 joining the road network; Newport lies six miles south and Dexter eight miles north. The river valley once powered the Eastland Woolen Mill, a major employer that operated from 1909 until 1997. The mill site later became an EPA cleanup project, and its removal opened room for a different village center around the river.

Corinna's present civic map gathers around the Levi Stewart building, an 1898 brick structure that houses the library and municipal office. A boardwalk, Corundel Lake and Bog, the Sebasticook River, and a downtown gazebo used for summer concerts give residents recurring places to meet. Corinna Days, the historical society, and the Levi Stewart Community Theater add more layers to the village calendar. The result is a river town where a former textile mill, a restored civic building, and outdoor routes all sit within the same compact settlement.
