About Corrigan

Corrigan is a Polk County town at the junction of U.S. 59 and 287, where the road map meets East Texas pine country. James B. Hendry founded the town around 1860, but the railroad arrivals of 1881 and 1882 turned it into a timber center; the town took its name from Pat Corrigan, a Texas & New Orleans official. Sawmills, stores, a hotel, and even a ten-pin alley followed. Corrigan still reads as a working timber town, with that rail-and-pine beginning still visible.
