About Corsicana
Corsicana is the county seat of Navarro County, southeast of Dallas, with a deep Central Texas history. Founded in 1848, it was named by Jose Antonio Navarro after Corsica, the birthplace of his father. The city is known for Navarro College, the Pearce Collections Museum, and long-running local industry, including foundry work that began in the 1860s. Corsicana also has oil-boom history and a recognizable Texas small-city downtown, giving it more weight than a simple highway stop.
